Manaus!

Ok, we arrived today and the hightlight today had to be seeing what the call the Encounter of the Waters. It is a place were the Amazon River and the Rio Preto meet, but the don't blend for miles because of the speed, the tempature, and the density of the water. Very cool.

During this trip the guide of course took us to his tourist trap place and there we saw these incredible lillies and also some cute little kids. Of course Charlotte is getting one of these, but we will have to modify it for modesty a bit.

The last thing today was the Amazon Opera House. This was the center of the city during the rubber tree boom years, but eventually it was abandoned. They have only restored it during the past 30 or so years. It was really hot in side, but a great looking building.

Starting out with a bit of a delay...

Alright, so it is Friday, it is raining here in Indy and my flight to Atlanta and then on to Manaus is delayed by about 90 minutes right now...so thanks to Indy's airport's free wi-fi, I thought I would start this little blog. I am not sure how much internet access I will have but it is worth a shot.

For those that don't know the plan, I will be in Brazil for the next 10 days with about 14 MBAs that are part of the course I have been teaching on "Emerging markets - Insights into the Brazilian business environment". We will be in Manaus, Sao Paulo, and Porto Alegre so we will be covering a lot of ground.

It will be a great trip and have Tanner's Bass Pro hat (he lent it to me so I won't forget him), so it should be fun to see parts of Brazil that I did not get to see on my mission.
